Hidetoshi Nakayama Wharncliffe w/Steampunk Sheath
Hidetoshi Nakayama's legendary hand-crafted, usable art is on full display with this hand-made blade and sheath! Starting with the knife, the hand double hollow ground Wharncliffe blade features a stunning, multifaceted finish. The grinds are satin brushed, with the flats of the entire knife featuring a hand textured surface. The perimeter of the handle has been beveled and features a polished finish, and the spine features a satin brushed finish. The contoured handle is made from a dark, complexly grained wood with a blue hue, held in place with polished natural steel pins.
Many knife makers throw in a basic sheath that 'get the job done', with no extra frills. That is not the case here! The sheath is just as much a work of art and part of this piece. The main body is built from stainless steel, with a matching brushed finish to the flats, polished edge bevels, and satin edges. The center spacer and liners are black micarta, and the piston lock and arm are satin brushed. All sheath pens are polished. But it's not just the looks of the sheath that are special, but it's function too! Along the top of the sheath sits a large 'piston', that acts as the locking mechanism of the knife. Simply press the piston forward with your thumb to pivot the piston body up and away from the knife, allowing the blade to be removed. To re-sheath, press the piston, insert the knife, and release.
