Winkler Knives Axe: RnD Compact

The RnD Axe was designed as a small-mid sized combat axe that has some extra utility and is super fast to manipulate. This Compact size bridges the gap between the Full Size and the Sub-Compact (see pictures). The semi bearded profile with thicker handle near the blade for finer work and scraping/shaving, and thinner handle with hook at the butt end gives better grip when swinging and chopping. The strong, tapered tang has been skeletonized for weight reduction and balance. Perfect for stowing in your truck or a go bag for when you need a multi-role tool that is tough as nails and won't slow you down.

The Blade: Convex ground with nice curve for maximized cutting edge length and strength on small profile and finished with Caswell black oxide finish.
The Handle: Contoured profile with hole for lanyard/hand strap. Skeletonized tapered tang for weight savings and optimal balancing.
The Sheath: Kydex scabbard with soft liner and nylon snap loops. Shock cord retention system for fast deployment.

Note: Winkler products are hand finished. Every scale has been hand contoured, and sculpting is done by hand. Additionally, materials vary a little bit, whether it be due to natural variations in wood, different batches of micarta or G10, or anything else.
