What is Ultem? So glad you asked! Ultem has been around since the 80's but has only been used in the "EDC" world for a decade or so. At its core, Ultem is a resin thermoplastic that is famous for its high temperature and chemical resistance, while being incredibly strong and resistant to stress fractures and cracking found in most plastics. It does all this while staying incredibly lightweight and able to be precisely machined for intricate parts. Because of this, it has found great success in many industries, and especially in the aerospace industry where parts and components must hold up against severe temperatures changes and stresses, and do it while staying light. We especially love it becuase it does all this, and does it looking AWESOME! The natural Ultem color remindes us of vintage materials like Westinghouse micarta and bakelite, with a translucent property that just looks RAD! And if its natural amber color ain't your think, it comes in black!
The Caveman Version: Ultem is tough! You melt before it melts! If you manage to break it, you musta been doing something REAL "smart". They use it in planes, and it looks cool!
