UPDATE 1/27/2023 - We have raised the price another $25 because people are bitching about the $25 bump for charity. Yep, it is that bad, sometimes. Probalby get a death threat over this, but hey, it's for the kids, and maybe it will make less people want it and more people who REALLY want one score! Read the update below, and see the picture for the situation. 

Time for an experiment:

So, we often get asked, "why don't you tell people ahead of time when your releases are". Well, to be more accurate, we are often screamed at and suffer on the recieving end of a grown @$$ adult throwing a tantrum because they missed out on a release and thought they they should be able to get something just becasue they "want" it. And while those situations fuel us for our nightly escapades, and we NEED that from time to time, it gets old week after week. For everyone else (the reasonable ones) we thought - "well, WE know why we don't do that. It is to be as unbiased and 'fair' as we can, in so much as we define those terms. We have stated many, many times on social media comments, online discussions, and in our own articles why we do NOT usually tell folks when something is going to release." If they REALLY wanted to know and learn why and not just pontificate after missing a release, they could read those things. Part of the problem is that the new order of the internet is that it is consumed in bites taht stay relevant for 2-3 days, tops.

Unless you follow us religiously and read all the comments, every day, people can miss these things. BUT - lacking the knowledge is no excuse for being an asshat. Anyways, we are not saying everyone has to agree with or like how we do things - but a rational person can still look at this objectively and say, "I understand why they think that is the best way, even if I do not agree". And fortunately, most folks do, are civil and we are all happy. They are just knives, after all, and you don't NEED them. BUT, not everyone has that ability, and can't see past that what they WANT is not REALITY.

But, the proof is in the pudding, as they say.

So, this Friday 1/27/23 at 3PM MST/local, we are releasing these knives. Just to see how that goes. Obviously, we don't need to. Our last few releases were done pretty quietly, and they sold out no issue. BUT, never say we are not open to proving our point (that doing releases this way is not the best way, is not in the best interest for everyone, is not "fair"). A few things to note going in, so you all know the dealio:

• PayPal will be turned off. We are having issues with it lagging behind and people placing multiple orders during 'regular' sales while it thinks. So if stuff gets hectic, you apes are gonna start mashing that "Place Order" button a million times and this will just break the site. Hard pass, not gonna deal with it. Credit cards only, so get you stuff lined up as best as you can. If you have not yet done so, go make an account and save your data. Don't say we didn't tell you to. We are going to turn off our normal Wire Transfer option too, so there are no issues with 'pay later'. If the site doesnt take your money, it is becasue your bank declined it or your info as presented do not pass our payment anti-fraud filters.
• LOCAL PEEPS: We will not be selling these in person at the storefront. That complicates things WAY too much, and puts an unfair advantage on you. Your order must be online like everyone else. As far as shipping options, we are going to turn off local pickup. Right now, it is hardwired to always be "available" due to limitations with the site (an update is in the works). On the last release, half of the orders came in using in-store pickup, and one was actually a local customer. Love you and all, but we don't want a repeat of that situation, so we are turing it off. Yes, that means you local guys are gonna have to pick and pay for a shipping method if you are lucky enough to order. If you do, call us after the dust settles, we can get it set up for in store pickup after the fact. We will NOT be releaseing ordered knives until we do our normal post-release checks. SO, if you are going to be a local pickup, wait for us to contact you before driving down here. It sometimes takes hours to sort through the BS, and we don't want you waiting for us (read: we are going to do it when we feel like, so if you drive accross town to get it and it's not ready, tough ta-ta's), so give us time to get things straight before you come in.
• Go practice placing an order if you have not done so on the new site. It is a little differnet, and we don't feel like getting our heads bitten off because you got stuck and didn't know the new procedure. Go create an account, too, so you can get your address details dialed in (new site, new accounts - your old Monkey Edge account does not work on the new site). NOTE: The 'save your credit card" info is bugged, it seems. Can't add it toyour account. No, we don't know if placing an order saves it in there. It's a bug, it's not working as expected, so there is no "it does" or "it does not" absolute answer.
• UPDATE!!!! These knives are more expensive than last time. Why? THREE reasons:
  1) this is more work, it annoys Tommy, so deal;
  2) we are working with a new charity, and part of how we raise money for it is through 'exclusive' sales (no, it is not the "Buy Us Pizza" fund); This is something we are developing and will be talking more about #soon, BUT that ain't gonna stop us from getting that money now while we are stil dotting the T's and crossing the I's. Again, deal. Read: This $25 is going straight to charity.
  3) Andrew cried about them costing more than the knives in 2017, that we are bad boys for charging more when all costs go up. Incredible how people can read this wall of text and still think the $25 extra was for fun. Well, we are tackin on another $25, to cut into his margins.
• All other disclaimers apply. Read more below. We are leaving our regular "mean text" up before the release, so you can see what we expect of you. This is a great oportunity for those of you that never read it before.
• Finally, if this goes bad and one or more of the following happens: the site crashes, the site is slow, you have errors, you get cart sniped, pages don't load, your internet is slow, you have to work during the release, you crash you car trying to buy this while driving, the page never shows in stock, or anything at all happens that makes you sad - STOW IT. We don't like to sell gear this way for very specific, well documented reasons. If and when things go wrong, we don't want to hear your problems. If you read this, something happens, and you still say, "nah, they want to hear me b!tch about this! It's gonna go sooo well...", you would be wrong.

Look, there are a finite amount of knives for us to sell. We know the EXACT number of people that are going to be happy after this release, and know how many more are not. This is an experiment to see how the site handles this, see how it goes, and give us fuel for saying "we told you so". Hey, maybe this is the best release ever for YOU! But, odds are against that, and it still doesn't change the fact that this kind of release puts more strain on us, the site, and gives you worse odds and more competition (some of which will be trying to break the rules).

LASTLY, If any of the above offends you, lighten up or find a different knife dealer. If you read this and said to yourself something along the lines of "just can't even omg", move on to a dealer that is more in line with your expectations (and stop getting mad at us for being "us" - we didn't ask you to shop with us nor put a gun to your head demanding you do). Everyone will thank you for your generous, righteous decision and their increased odds at getting a knife.

Have fun with this hobby. Like it says in our About Us bio, "Sometimes we are rough around the edges, sometimes we won’t sugar coat it." So stop putting such great expectaions and such high stakes on 'scoring' one of these knives, and have fun with this. We know we are.

LIMIT ONE KNIFE. IF YOU TRY TO BUY MORE THAN ONE, WE WILL CANCEL ALL ORDERS! DO NOT BUY FOR OTHER PEOPLE OR HAVE OTHER PEOPLE BUY FOR YOU. READ AND UNDERSTAND THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS PRIOR TO ORDERING (you won't but don't say we didn't warn you after we cancel your order):

• LIMIT ONE KNIFE.
• LIMIT ONE PER HOUSEHOLD (this means don't have your wife, kids, or dog order another one). Not kidding on this one, boys and girls. DO NOT BUY TWO FOR ANY REASON.
• DO NOT BUT A KNIFE FOR YOU AND ONE FOR SOMEONE ELSE IN ANOTHER HOUSEHOLD. They can buy their own gear. We will cancel both orders.
• No Pay Later options. Payment must be captured at the time of the order. If you don't pay at checkout, we will cancel your order immediately.
• If there are delays to your order (payment issues, shipping issues) it WILL push your order processing to the back of the queue. We ship orders that are ready to rock, then deal with hold-ups.
• If you want to change your order after it is in the system, it will absolutely delay shipping it. We have to prioritize ready-to-ship orders, so if ANYTHING needs changing (from fixing a spelling error, adding a unit number or ANYTHING) it will delay shipping so do not expect it to go out in the normal time frame.
• If you can't add to cart, we are sold out. How Email Notifications work: There are usually cancelled orders, and those knives will automatically be re-added to site EVERY time there is a cancellation. Every 'stock add' sends restock emails to whomever is currently signed up, and then that list is cleared. One sign up, one notification. If you get a notification, you will not be re-notified the next time unless you re-sign up for the notification again.

Don't be stupid. If you think you are doing something that might be against the rules or is a a little shady, you probably are. We are going to cancel orders with NO MERCY this time. We will be going over every order with a fine tooth comb. We don't care if you have spent $20 or $200,000 - break the rules and we'll cancel your order.
