Milt Sparks Holsters: Criterion
The Criterion is kind of a mash-up of the venerable Versa-Max 2 and Nexus IWB holsters. If you need your rig to maximize concealability and comfort, the Criterion excels at keeping your carry out of site and at the ready. Taking a blend of the VM-2's and Nexus' key features, while having some unique qualities of its own.
The general layout follows in the Nexus's footsteps, positioning your carry lower and with more rearward rake, really tucking the holster down low. This makes for both a comfortable carry, positioning the muzzle off your body line (awesome when sitting down), and opens up the full profile of the grip for easier access. It also keeps the tail end of the grip closer to your core, helping to prevent excess printing. Also like the Nexus, the Criterion features belt loops with magnetic fasteners. This makes donning and doffing the holster a breeze without needing to remove your belt, and also keeps the whole belt interface slimmer and less bulky.
On the other hand, the Criterion features a more traditional 'central' molded design as found on the Nexus, effectively positioning the pistol center between both halves of the holster construction. This means that the molded details are split evenly on both the body side and outer side (unlike the Nexus that bias's most of the molded details on the outer side, with a smother and flatter body-side). This balances comfort and closeness of carry, and allows the Criterion to have a metal reinforced mouth band like the VM-2. This keeps the mouth of the holster open even when open and under pressure from your belt, making for easier re-holstering.
The Criterion features a molded sight track to give clearance for your front sight, so there are no snags when drawing or re-holstering. The full cowhide construction is comfortable, flexible, sturdy and offers excellent retention. The Criterion is perfect for an ultra low profile small pistol carry, or an extra comfortable large pistol carry.
