Aside from some cosmetic differences, there are two main differences between the Hinderer Extreme Duty Modular Pen and the Hinderer Modular Kubaton with pen attachment.
1) The Extreme Duty Pen is designed primarily to be a writing device. The top end is able to be changed out to the Hinderer System attachments. The pen end is part of the body and cannot be removed. While the Modular Kubaton has both ends that can be configured.
2) The Extreme Duty Modular Pen accommodates a full size Fisher Space Pen refill. The Modular Kubaton with pen attachment uses a mini pen refill that contains much less ink.
