Hidetoshi Nakayama Pendant Blade w/Wood Sheath
This Pendant Blade is another example of Hidetoshi Nakayama's legendary hand-crafted, usable art. Like many of Hidetoshi's pieces, there is more than meets the eye. This piece consists of three main 'sections': the blade, the sheath body, and the lanyard loop. Each is a small work of art in their own right, and when put together create something truly special! Part blade, part compliance device, part jewelry, and totally unique.
The blade features a slim and narrow, hand flat ground drop point profile, with brushed sating flats and a polished spine. The blade connects to the turned base, which acts as both the handle and interface with the sheath body and lanyard loop with threaded sections. The steel base has a satin finish over the ornamental profile.
The sheath body mixes both metal and wood elements. The main body is turned from a stunning piece of wood with complex grains and curls. The tip features a turned steel piece, matching the style of the blade's base, and serves as a pointed tip if using the pendant as a compliance device. The steel collar stabilizes the threaded opening and ties the aesthetics of the blade section to the sheath body section.
Finally, the lanyard loop section takes Hidetoshi's signature industrial aesthetic and acts as the interface between the rest of the pendant and whatever you are connecting it to. Whether it be your keys, a lanyard or chain, this is an easy attachment point that swivels and rotates independently of the base. The steel construction is finished with a satin brushed finish on the loop, with a turned base that blends into the knife base.
When fully assembled, the Pendant Blade is a beautiful piece of art, that will serve as a compliance or defense device in a pinch. If you need to cut something, unscrew the blade section from the body, and the small but handy blade is at the ready. Need more freedom of movement or to pass the blade to someone else? Simply unscrew the blade from the lanyard loop, and the blade is totally free.
