Blackside Customs Fedele X - Beskar/Brass
The next addition to the Blackside Custom's edged tool lineup: The Fedele X Fixed Blade!
Complementing their smaller, more purpose-driven Phase 7 Dagger, the Fedele X (or FX for short) takes on a more hybrid, multi-task role. The first thing you are gonna notice looking at the FX is the oversized blade design compared to the grip. The blade features a sexy profile, with an overall drop point design with some tweaks. Almost like a modern Italian sports car, the FX has all the curves you can lust after with some striking lines and angles to keep things looking aggressive and fast! The bevel profile features a slightly sweeping belly, that has a subtle tanto-like transition point towards the tip. Not by coincidence, this transition point is where the main thickness of the blade starts to taper, giving you a thicker, stronger main cutting edge, with a thinner but reinforced tip profile. All this means is that the FX is well suited to a number of tasks, with a thick enough stock to really get to work.
Like the aforementioned sports car, the FX then transitions from that large front end packing the horsepower, to the sleek cabin of the car. The grip is kept small, giving you enough room to get a solid on the grip for a secure purchase, without being cumbersome or stick out too far in concealed carry situations. This balance between big enough to grip while small enough to conceal lets you tote around a low profile knife with a lot of edge! The grip profile is flared at the butt end to aid getting you purchase, and the FX gives you a superb grip in both the standard and reverse positions. The oversized guard helps keep your hand from slipping up the blade, and strategic jimping on the guard, butt end, and thumb ramp/spine give you increased control and even better retention. The sleek grip wears handle scales featuring Blackside's groove milled design and logo for even more grip without being too abrasive, and is held on with titanium hardware. All of this tucks into a kydex sheath with IWB loop, and is ready for your preferred mounting solution.
The Blade: Reinforced drop point profile with upper swedge featuring a weathered and intricately detailed Beskar finish!
The Handle: Thin and flat brass handle scales with grooved milling and textured flats. Strategic jimping around the handle, and lanyard hole at the butt end.
Blade is made in Italy, with handle, hardware and sheath made, assembled and fit in the USA.
Notes on Brass:
This is a disclaimer for all you folks who slept through high school chemistry class or somehow not aware of the nature of brass. All metals will change colors and looks over time depending on use, environment etc. This is especially true with brass. This means it may get a darker, may change colors with patina, or it may get shiny and polished where it is rubbed by another material (like say your pocket). If ya want it to stay all shiny and new looking, you will have to keep polishing it with a product like Brasso or any of the homegrown solutions you can find with an internet search. OR, you can accept that what make brass a cool material is that your piece will change over time and tell its own stories and truly become one of a kind.
