Simple and effective. Everything you need and nothing you don't!
Trident Concepts has built a world class reputation in training everything from elite units, to 'switched on' civilians. If you have ever attended a TRICON class, you know that TRICON founder Jeff Gonzales's methodology is to analyze every level of performance and motion. To strip away the BS and instill functional skills that can be relied on when things go bad. All those 'cool guy' drills may seem great and you may even be able to perform them the training environment. BUT, can you perform them when it's dark, you're hurt, cold, scared, and there is somebody trying to kill you?

It is with that mind set that the TRICON fixed blade was born. People typically carry a folder for defense due to its convenience when compared to a fixed blade. However, a folder is a compromise in terms of employment and effectiveness. The TRICON was conceived to be a fixed blade that was carried at all times. It is deliberately simple and streamlined in design. It's narrow overall profile allows it to fit where many other similar length fixed blades would not. Jeff wanted a blade that he could mount to a plate carrier and then easily move to a plain clothes concealed carry role. The grip was purposely designed to be low profile yet still offer plenty of traction. With its relationship to the blade profile, it keeps your hand from 'riding up' under hard use. Constructed of CPM D2 stainless with full tang flanked by G10 scales secured by Strider's proprietary stainless steel fastners. It is shipped with kydex sheath. The molded kydex sheath comes equipped with velcro loop but will accept most mounting hardware/clips, allowing flexible options on how to mount the knife. Removing the lower screw from the loop lets you wear the knife inside the waistband.

About CPM-D2: CPM-D2 is -you guessed it- Crucible's CPM (Crucible Particle Metallurgy) process version of the proven staple D2 steel, favored by knife makers for its good combination of qualities. Crucible has taken the tried and D2 alloy and applied their particle metallurgy process for more consistent carbide distribution whish results in pretty much all qualities of the knife being improved, such as improved toughness and edge retention. We often get asked which steel is "better" between CPM 154, CPM S30V, and CPM S35VN, D2, CPM-D2, on and on. Well, a book could be written on just that question. Mick Strider has said something to the effect of "Tell you what: I will hand you one knife made from each material and if you can tell the difference after using them, I will give you $10,000". This was a Mick way of saying that they are so similarly performing materials and that only a super scientist metallurgist would be able to tell the difference. If Strider is using it, it is good and guaranteed for life.
