This piece will be going live for auction on December 3rd, 2021 at 5PM Mountain Time. We will post a link to the auction thread here when it goes live. See full auction details below.

About the auction: Andrew Bawidamann and Derrick Obatake of Steel Flame teamed up to offer this amazing Doughboy DB-2 with Pile of Skulls piece for auction. 100% of the final auction price of this piece will be going to the family of Bryan Delavan, Yuko and their two sons. Bryan, son of Plaza Cutlery's Dan and Pam Delavan, unexpectedly passed earlier this year. 100% of the final auction high bid price will go to Yuko.

About this DB-2: The DB-2 features a dual-finger design that slips into your grip, whether you got big paws or smaller mitts. Paying homage to the original, a clean and simple "U.S. 1918" mark is featured on the handle portion. These DB-2's have been cast from high grade brass, and finished with a heavy blasted and then patina'd finish! These look like you just dug them out of the ground from a 100 year old battlefield, with the wear that tells the story of a well-utilized tool. Being brass, each one will be a bit different and over time and carry will change and patina more to tell it's own story! The brass construction offers a nice heft without being too heavy, easy to carry in a pocket. Derrick then took this incredible piece and upped the ante by piling on a heap of 14 skulls, and finishing the entire piece with a patina finish. Signed One by Derrick.

About the Bawidamann Doughboy: If you didn't already know, us Monkey's are a bit obsessed with old school militaria, weapons and gear. While we LOVE the pieces that 'used to be made', unfortunately it's not practical to use and carry that gear a lot of the time. Well, Andrew Bawidamann might just be a bigger history nut than us, so when he first told us about bringing the one of the most iconic and infamous pieces of the Great War history to the modern EDC scene, well, color us intrigued. But it's one thing to say, you wanna grab some of that old school style and history and get it to the people. It's quite another to do it RIGHT. Well, Andrew did it right!

Enter the Doughboy. The iconic M1918 trench knife 'knuckle dagger' is a staple of every kid's dream "weapon's of war" we all wanted to have. In 2021 though, it's not practical nor even easy to acquire an actual 1918 (let alone use one). Andrew, being a lover of all things warfare and military history, saw the need and filled it. The Doughboy is modeled after the legendary blade's most recognizable feature, the 'knuckle' handle. With its flared finger holes and pointed profile, there is no knuckle design quite like the 1918's. But instead of just getting the design drawn up and CNC'd (the easy thing to do), Andrew wanted to both retain the soul of the piece and it's iconic feel. Therefore, just like the original handles over 100 years ago, the Doughboys have been investment cast in the USA using USA-sourced materials. From first spark of a synapse to the piece you hold in your hand, the Doughboy is 100% red-blooded American made, as it should be!

How the Auction Works: We will be putting this item up for auction on the Monkey Edge Facebook page on December 3rd via an auction post. The Auction will start at 5PM Mountain Time. We have a 5 minute anti-snipe rule in place, so the auction will run until 8PM or else no bid has occurred for 5 minutes. For example, if the last bid was at 7:52, the auction will end at 8:00 PM. If the last bid was at 7:59, the auction will run until 8:04PM. If any bids happen during the 5 Minute anti-snipe time period, it resets the 5 minute time. Once the last high bid has stood at top for 5 minutes unopposed, the auction will end. PLEASE NOTE: this is manually being run by us. This is not Ebay, and we are not Sotheby's. If you want in, we suggest not playing games and just bid. Last thing we want is someone thinking they are making a bid in time because they waited 4:30 minutes, but auction post updates are slow and our timer is different than yours, and you miss out. Our goal is to raise as much money as we possibly can, so give us a break if you want something to end faster and our time keeping says the auction is still going. If anyone want to throw a fit because the auction runs late, remember the point of this auction and rethink your priorities.

After the Auction: Once the auction is closed, we will contact the winner to sort out payment and shipping. Domestic bidder's, shipping is on us. For international bidders, we will offer you a few options for shipping to which you will pay cost. Payment will have to be paid within 5 days of auction closing. Payment will be made to Monkey Edge, and then we will write a check to Yuko. From past experiences of auction flakes, we do not want the headache of a bad payment or having to handle a multiple-person payment confirmation to fall on anyone else but us. Payment to us must be made by Wire Transfer, PayPal Friends and Family (NOT Goods and Services, we don't want PayPal fees eating up any funds or risk a dispute) or certified check/money order. We will not be accepting Credit Card or standard PayPal payments. Any mail in payments must be in hand with us by Dec 8th. If these terms are not satisfactory for you, please do not take part.

Know your local laws. Please make sure you are able to take part and recieve the item you are bidding on. If you bid and flake on this one, expect to be blacklisted by us and everyone we know, very publicly.
