About this piece: Well kiddies, this is a cool one! Made during Mick's 'Texas Days' when Mick decided he was gonna heat and smash stuff together and forge his own damascus. While he was 'drunk on damascus' he was doing crazy cool, one-off, totally hand made, pieces the likes of which we will probably not see again. On this one, we have hand double hollow ground recurve profile with upper swedge that come together at the tip for a sharpened top edge. The staggered hand-filed scallops on the spine makes for a bit extra grip for your thumb. Mick's hand forged damascus is simply stunning on this one with its deep etch and crisp contrast. Finished off with a set of contoured carbon fiber scales. A killer piece of Mick Strider history!

About Mick's Texas Days Period: If you follow any artist long enough, you will notice that there can be distinct phases to their work as they evolve and discover new techniques. Think Picasso's 'blue period' or Van Goh's 'Arles period'. After turning Strider Knives Inc. from a two guys in a garage to a real knife company in California, life led Mick to move to Texas for a few years. Away from the southern California hustle and bustle and the daily operational stresses of Strider Knives Inc., Mick really started to evolve as a knife maker. It was during this time that he became fascinated with forging his own damascus and was experimenting with a wide variety of materials and methods. It was also during this period when Mick did many 'one-off' designs as he explored new techniques and materials. Like many artist periods, life leads them to pursue new things. Mick eventually moved back to southern California and got the MSC Performance line up and running in addition to being inspired to build his own crazy detailed, steampunk-MSC-style vibe motorcycles. Thus, the 'Texas Days' chapter came to a close just as a new one was opened. Essentially, this was a very creative and prolific time for Mick's knife-making that led to some of his most unique pieces.
